Everyday Wear & Storage:
Show it some love! The natural oils from your skin can actually help prevent tarnishing. Wearing your silver jewellery regularly is a great way to keep it shiny.Give it a rest. When not wearing your silver, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. A tarnish-proof pouch or airtight container is ideal.
Separate it out. Silver can react with other metals, so avoid storing your silver jewellery with other types of jewellery.
Cleaning:
Simple is best. For regular cleaning, a quick wipe with a soft, dry polishing cloth will remove fingerprints and light tarnish. You can find these cloths readily available at most jewellery stores.Lather it up (gently). For more stubborn tarnish, you can use a mild dish soap and lukewarm water solution. Gently clean your jewellery with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Pat it dry completely with a soft cloth before storing.
Baking soda magic (optional). For a deeper clean, you can try the baking soda method. Line a bowl with aluminium foil (shiny side up) and fill it with warm water. Add a tablespoon of baking soda for each cup of water. Submerge your silver jewellery for a few minutes, then remove and buff with a soft cloth. Important note: Don't use this method for jewellery with gemstones or pearls, as it may damage them.
Things to Avoid:
Harsh chemicals. Avoid exposing your silver jewellery to harsh chemicals like bleach, chlorine (in swimming pools), or strong cleaning agents. These can damage the metal and dull the shine.Cosmetics & lotions. Apply cosmetics, lotions, and perfumes before putting on your silver jewellery. Certain chemicals in these products can cause tarnishing.
Extreme temperatures. Sudden changes in temperature can also affect your silver jewellery. Avoid wearing it in hot springs, saunas, or while showering.
